MATRESCENCE INSTITUTE
A 12 MONTH JOURNEY TO REMEMBER THE WHOLISTIC DOULA WITHIN YOU
FIRST COHORT STARTS THIS SEPTEMBER 2026REMEMBER THE WHOLISTIC DOULA WITHIN YOU
For centuries, across diverse cultures and traditions, women have always accompanied and walked alongside other women through life's most sacred rites of passage—puberty, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, menopause, and ultimately, death. Throughout generations, women have had this knowing, the ability to nurture, guide, support, and hold space for other women during times of profound transformation. This knowing has been transmitted from mother to daughter, elder to younger woman, heart to heart, weaving an unbroken thread throughout time.
Yet, with the rapid advancement of modern technologies and interventions, many women have gradually disconnected from this knowing. In a world that often encourages us to seek answers outside of ourselves, we have forgotten the profound intelligence of our bodies and our collective feminine knowing.
This is an invitation to remember.
Matrescence is the transformative process of becoming a mother, encompassing the physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual, and social shifts that begin long before conception and continue throughout motherhood, menopause, and until the end of life. It is not a singular event, but rather a lifelong developmental journey that continually shapes and reshapes a woman’s identity. To truly understand the depth and significance of Matrescence, we must first look at the earliest threshold of feminine transformation: puberty. It is here that a young girl first experiences the profound changes that initiate her into womanhood, laying the foundation for the many transitions she will encounter throughout her life.
Today, an increasing number of young women, mothers, and elders find themselves disconnected from the innate wisdom of their bodies and the physiological intelligence that guides their natural processes. As modern society moves further away from traditional ways of knowing, many women are yearning to reconnect with the deeper rhythms of their feminine nature and be guided by the physiology of their bodies.
If you feel called to remember the Wholistic Doula within you, to reconnect with your knowing and ancestral wholistic practices that honor the body's innate capacity for healing, transformation, and creation, and to be of service to the world, then you have arrived at the right place. This journey is not about learning something new—it is about remembering what you have always known. Together, we will return to the knowing of the body, honor the sacred transitions of womanhood, and support other women in remembering their power, knowing, and sovereignty.

ABOUT TAMARA
Tamara is a Full Spectrum Wholistic Doula and Educator, Death Doula, Wholistic Health and Energy Medicine Practitioner, Trauma Healing Therapist, and Herbalist. She has assisted over 10 000 people with Energy Medicine and Trauma Healing, and has assisted hundreds of women through preconception, conception, pregnancy, birth and postpartum, with births in hospitals, birthing centres, and at home. She has also helped hundreds of women and couples with fertility, notably with her fertility blends for men and women from her herbal line Mama Oracle Apothecary, which she created after working for the late Dr. Llaila Afrika. As a child, Tamara always knew she was here to be of service to humanity and to contribute to Earth's evolution, and she has also always remembered her connection to God and nature, which have guided her to spend the majority of her adolescence and early adulthood years remembering ancient wholistic practices with some of the biggest figures in Wholistic Health, notably Queen Afua, and the late Dr. Llaila Afrika, a renown Naturopath and Herbalist with whom she had the opportunity to live with and work for while living in the United States. They both highly influenced the Wholistic Lifestyle she shifted to at the age of 20, which helped her heal from dis-eases she was experiencing. It is through experiencing a simple symptom of ovulation she didn't understand as a teen, with no clear response from her mother nor her gynaecologist who suggested she takes the pill, that she started diving more into remembering what her body is undergoing and how to heal and care for herself wholistically. When she became pregnant with her first child, she remembered the physiology of pregnancy and birth through her midwife who then taught her how to be a doula, and she had a lotus birth at home. She was fascinated by how a physiological birth could make women connect to their knowing so profoundly. 20 years in Wholistic Health20 years in Herbalism15 years in Womb Work15 years in Energy Medicine15 years in Trauma Healing10 years in Birth WorkWith all these accumulated years of remembering, she created Matrescence Institute to help women remember these ancient and wholistic practices so they can in turn help other women remember while assisting them through their rites of passage.WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
